A Christmas Break

Hello and Merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates it. We've been away in our caravan celebrating Christmas and Ms Juliet's 7th birthday. It was a wonderful 8 days of swimming, the beautiful outdoors and family time. The simple things in life as such a joy!

Some Christmas Gifts I've been making

Life is of course quite mad at the moment, but amongst the crazy of the end of school year I've been managing some (mostly late night) crafting.

Here are some of the things I've been making this week.

Firstly, my babies. I made them a while ago, but here they are in Christmas goodness.

A 5 minute refashion of one of my very old t shirts.

My always happy customer. She looks older here.

The was a birthday gift for a friend.

The was for Juliet's wonderful school teacher.

And this bird feeder for a kris kringle present for one of the ladies from my yarn bombing group. (Shhhh, it's a secret).

Upcycled Men's Shirt Cuff Pouches

I had a few of these men's shirt cuffs leftover from other refashions, and I didn't want to waste them, so I made some little pouches last night. I'm already using them for cards in my purse and I love them. The best part is they were so quick and easy. Just pin and sew around the edges.

The paisley sleeves were leftover from this project I did about a month ago with one of my husband's old shirts.

There was a dog who just happened to be in the right place at the wrong time as I was cutting off the collar. New fashion trend?

I'm practicing my toilet roll craft to do with the playgroup kiddies in the morning. Hope they like it.

A wreath of 4 generations.

I made this Christmas wreath today. It contains special items from 4 generations.

The foam ring I used as a base was first wrapped in cream lace that belonged to my Grandma, then some red lace which was also from her stash.

Hanging from the top is a dove made by my daughter Juliet last Christmas.

On this side is a flower made from some vinyl from my Nan's kitchen, with earrings that were my Mum's that she gave Juliet earlier this year when she got her ears pierced.

The blue fabric is a strip of fabric from one of my Nan's skirts.

Then the paper flower is made from a book page from a book my Poppa gave me many years ago. I cut the petals out and burnt the edges, then used one of Gram's buttons for the flower centre.

Over this side is a gold and pearl bracelet my Mum gave me when I was 12, and tucked into the red lace above it is a death notice for my Pa, who died almost 19 years ago.

That's my 4 generations wreath. It means a lot to me, and I have hung it at my front door to pay tribute to the importance of family in my life.

Op shop finds.

After a nice long break, I thought I'd share some of my op shop finds of the last little while.

Amazing bread bin. Yay! I had been searching for one for so long.

This awesome sifter was actually given to me by someone who reads my facebook page. How kind. I love it, and I found the orange bowl to go with it for 20 cents.

Amazing set of canisters to go in the van. Not in prefect condition but they are over 50 years old.

Some Tupperware for my green collection and a cute mug.

Caravan Inspiration. A zipper purse.

Here's just a little vintage caravan inspired craft I made the other day. Sometimes when life is getting on top of me a bit, the only thing to do is to make something, and then the world seems to glow a little more brightly for me.

This started off by me just cutting out a caravan from felt scraps, and evolved into a zipper purse.

It was all about injecting a little sunshine in my life.

Taking a break from blogging.

Hi All,

Just a quick post about something I've been considering for a while now. I've decided to stop blogging for now. I've had so many computer issues this year that have made it extremely difficult, and now that these are resolved I just find myself with no desire or motivation to blog. Blog posts lately have been out of obligation, and they've been rushed and not how I want to blog at all. I just want to spend my time on other things, such as making things and my family.

I also want to do more volunteer work to help in a practical way in areas where it is needed. Increasingly, I've been feeling weighed down by the problems of our country and around the world, and will be spending more time helping in practical ways to do what I can. It's a strong call to action that I feel.

I will still be operating my facebook page, as this is much easier and I enjoy doing it.

Thank you very much to all those who have read and joined both this blog and my other blog, especially Joyce, for your warm comments and continual support. It was this kind of support that enabled me to do my 365 day project and complete it.
