Pin Cushion Cute

I saw a photo of some toy truck pin cushions a while ago, and decided to try making some when I found these unloved trucks in one of our toy tubs during a recent clean out. Mr Crafty had to go away for a few days for work so I had the bedroom covered in craftiness last night and made these.

A little bit of stuffing, some fabric scraps, thread, and glue. I tacked around the edges of the fabric to gather the sides and pull the stuffing into a ball, then glued it to the trucks. So cute!

  1. Those are adorable, love 'em. The trucks are Tonkas, right? Are they metal or plastic? Back when my kids were little, about 35 years ago(whew), Tonkas were metal. There was an ad on the tv showing an elephant standing with one foot on the top of one, to show that Tonkas were undestructible. They were a great truck, for sure.

  2. I love these, great job! 'Course, having raised two boys, I also love Tonka trucks. When my two were little, well over 30 years ago, they had several, all metal. At one time, there was a commercial on tv showing an elephant with one foot on the top of a Tonka truck, to show how indestructible they were!!!

  3. They still do metal ones. One of these is metal and the other is plastic. Tonkas are great. We have some big ones in the sandpit. That ad sounds great!

  4. Sorry I posted twice. I'm not sure what happened. The first post was from yesterday morning, but when I came back last night it wasn't there. So, I posted the second one. Now they're both there...again, sorry about that.

I thought one of them...the yellow one, right?...was metal. Those big ones are wonderful anywhere, lol.

  5. I was feeling the love with 2 posts. Yep it was the yellow one that's metal. I've got them sitting on my little shelf I made out of a book and they look super cute.
